land a deal with India to build 16 nuclear reactors?

I would think we are culturally and economically closer to India than Russia.

India buys a lot of stuff from the Rooskies.

They've been flying MIG 29's for years.

Probably had the lowest bid.
In a "world" economy loyalty and cultural ties means nada. Money however means a lot.

The article Noone linked to in the OP says India buys 70% of their military hardware from Russia.

We haven't built a commercial nuclear reactor in the US since the TMI incident. It's not clear to me that we're even in the competitive running with the Russki's or the French.

Probably not. Just another lucrative industry we can ad to the list of industries we've let go down the toilet on the grounds that all American workers (Us) are all lazy, stupid and overpaid. How much you want to bet the next nuclear plant built here is built by the French or Russians?

Dave

This one is not based on any good or bad perception of American workers. The removal of US industry from this market rests on the concerns over the danger of operating these plants and on the long term ecological concern about proper disposal of the waste products.

Yes Chas, but why?

Yes Chas, but why?

They don't love us anymore?

Maybe they've seen "The China Syndrome", or remember the Bhopal disaster. Or the Rooskies gave the low bid. Or maybe they don't appreciate us using them to apply pressure to Pakistan.

Personally, I wouldn't want the USA building something like this either. We're so stupid that we've had to hire them to handle our customer support.

Guess I didn't tell him anything that he didn't already know.

What can I say, free advice is worth exactly what it costs.

Don't laugh guess who is going to install the next reactor at Calvert Cliffs since the French gummint bought up a chunk of Constipation Energy.

I guess the Indian government realizes that they are overpopulated, imagine 16 new Chernobylls.

Who builds the Chicoms reactors? Surely they don't do it themselves.

Wonder how think the melamine has to be to shield a reactor?
