Now please excuse me while I fall dead of a heart attack. And before I finally expire, I will admit that he's not as dumb as I thought he was.

But I still smell a rat.

And there are those that believe Obama an ideologue and socialist?

Bullshit.

He's a pragmatist.

Bullshit.

He's a pragmatist.

He's beginning to behave as one...or at least a politician.

If he pans out, I'll give him his due. For all I know, he may be right. But I do know one thing, I wouldn't take his job on a bet.

I've heard that somewhere.

After delivering much less that what the left wanted in a health care bill, Obama is really setting himself up for a big hit from the left flank. Once again though, he stressed in his campaign that energy independence was not only an economic concern, it is also a security concern. This comminist furriner lefty wuss seems to be making some tough decisions - like upping the forces in Afghanistan and going after real terrorists; and determining that energy independence is more important than following the party line on off-shore drilling. He is looking stronger on terrorism as his presidency goes on.

It might have been the Onion, but I remember someone, after the '08 elections, publishing a headline "AMERICA GIVES WORST JOB IN THE WORLD TO A BLACK MAN."

Yeah, but can he run a Burger King?

It's a cheap shot.... pay no attention to the racist behind the curtain.

To be serious, before the election I said that whatever he did would not be that much different that what was already happening. He's moved somewhat to the left, but the president is constrained by current events, and there is only do so much he can do.

Anyone who thinks the boss runs things is FOS. All the boss does it try to make everyone happy. And the further up the ladder your go, the more people you have to make happy.

Kinda like owning a business isn't it. Instead of having one boss, you have dozens.

I have a friend who started his own business, because he wanted "to be my own boss.". He was into it exactly one month when he called me and said; "Now EVERYBODY is my fucking boss." A year later he bemoaned the fact that he could no longer take any time off. "Man, I've been working seven days a week since I started this shit."

I work for other people, and I try to make sure I'm working for big companies that offer paid vacations and holidays. You can have that "self employed" crap. If that's your thing, have at it.

Dave

Personally, working for myself 80 hours a week is far easier than working 35 for someone and even when I worked for corps I never had any day to day supervision. Yep, we are all just different, I can't work for others.

Speak your mind. Don't be afraid.

I'll tell ya straight up.---Yeah, it's easier that way. Generally pays better too. So what? If workin for yourself, or a small business doesn't carry those perks then I avoid those situations and seek better circumstances. What, I'm supposed to be ashamed of myself for that? Fuck that Skippy. And if the "small businessman" has a hard time finding good help because of my strong wages, then the "small businessman" has a personal problem that I don't give a shit about.:p Copeche?

To get back on topic,

I thoroughly enjoyed the idiotic GOP response; "Don't be fooled. It just a smoke screen."

They've been trying to get the Dems to sign on to offshore drilling for years. And now that we have a Democratic President willing to help them get what they've been after all of this time.................It's a trick, and they're against it. Does anyone else here see what a-holes these people are? Honestly.

I must be one, as I grow more ignorant by the day.

It started when I was a teen.

Chas

Ah, come on Chas. He's just speaking his mind. Probably doesn't bother me as much as you since I tend to agree with him, but certainly he's not picking fights like, um, some people.

And really, I like hearing what you have to say. Don't hold back. If we all try our best not to make it personal or "cross the line" (whatever that means) it's a lot more interesting to just hear what people think.

My opinion of you is pretty well set and a lot more positive than you would have thougth at one time. You're not likely to say something that's going to sway my thoughts about you, but you have made some cases that have influenced my view of political issues. Don't start holding back now!

I want all of you to read this thread and ask yourselves if this makes sense to you. This is a joke! If you are not sharp enough and not a hard worker, than you DON'T create your own company. Yeah, this guy works for other people because he wants to...give me a break!

And you consider yourself "sharp"? If so, that makes-----one:p.

I want you to take note of the fact that most of the time your posts are ignored and ask yourself; "Why is that?"

BTW, regrettably, I would have to agree with your point. The guy isn't sharp enough, and I knew he would hate it. His business folded a long time ago. And like most failed business owners I've personally known---it's always someone elses fault. Usually the government. Bullshit.

I prefer to work for other people because it has served me well for most of my life. There are lots of things my employer does for me that I would otherwise have to take care of myself. They deal with the insurance, government, customers, vendors, etc., in return I give them a solid days work for a solid days pay plus a very good benefit package. And I appreciate what they do for me.

Some folks choose to have control over all of those things themselves so they go out and run their own business. And that's fine. That is their choice. In our society, we have this choice. I make mine, you make yours---There is nothing wrong with that, to my mind.

Choosing to work for others does not mean you are stupid and lazy. Likewise, being a business owner does not automatically make you a supergenius and a pillar of society. If you take the time to check, I bet you will find that the vast majority of people work for someone else. Does this mean we're all deadweight? Spare me.

Apparently the real world is more complex than the fantasy world that exists between your ears. Yes. You're confused. I see that.

Dave

Done both and it is Bell that gives me a pension and some health coverage, more than I could say for my consulting business.

My sister-in-law could not keep a job. She had a problem getting there when they wanted her to start. She also liked to talk and she didn't want to be supervised.

She loves Karaoke, and spent a lot of time in Karaoke bars. After getting fired the last time, she started up a restaurant with at Karaoke theme, and a bakery. She has already had to move into a larger building. In their new location they were already getting swamped before they even got their sign up or any advertising out. She has someone else open up for her, but she is there until it closes and beyond. Turns out she was a lot better at running a business than being an employee.

We all have different skills. I'm a pretty good lawyer, but I suck as a business man. (You really have to look out for number one in business, and that's not why most of us got into labor law) I'm no good at grippin' and grinnin' - just don't have the personality to go out and hustle up business. I don't particularly care for betting on the come either, and contingency cases are how you can make big money - or lose your shirt. I'm working on going in-house with a local union - a much more structured environment, good health care and the building trades unions know how to fund a pension.

If everyone wanted to be their own boss, how would the bosses find anyone to work for them?

Regards,

D-Ray

I like your sister, already. (Nothing untoward implied.)

Is the bar, local?

I'll go have a beer and support her cause! :)
