Another thing is that South Africa gives the Dutch something close to a "home field advantage" since the Boers are of Dutch heritage. I'm sure Netherlands has a lot of support in the stands. "Boer" just means "farmer" in Dutch and the language many of them speak, Afrikaans, is more or less a dialect of the Dutch language.

I was thinking that The Netherlands' rough play would either win the match for them or lose it for them. The Netherlands going a man down in Overtime was the clincher for Spain. That and Casillas' save off his foot.
