Sonny Rollins: THE BRIDGE

Jim Hall
Bob Cranshaw
Ben Riley

This refers to the Williamsburg Bridge which connects Manhattan to Broklyn. Sonny use to practice extensively under this structure to avoid disturbing his neighbors.
An excellent album.
Why I choose this one just after experiencing the recent scary earthquake I do not know. :D

I love this album. It would be in my top 10 or 20 for the last couple of decades.

In DD news, this digital only album and the second volume will together be available as FLACs August 30 from Douglas's web site, on a USB key that also includes mp3 reductions, artwork, etc. Or you can buy this one and the new one for $7 each as FLAC downloads.

Not affiliated etc., etc., etc., just a fan of the man.

This one includes a big hearted version of "Lush Life," arranged for brass, which is also available absolutely free on Douglas's web site.

Just looked him up on Wikipedia and it seems that he's 75 years old now. How time flies.

You gotta be careful about posting stuff like this. We might find something we have in common. :D

Same goes with TD on Whitey Ford Sings the Blues. That is some ballsy stuff.
