View Full Version : Barack Obama looks ridiculous...

To quote:

"It is rather ironic that Barack Obama, who has probably done more damage to the American economy that any president in modern US history, is now lecturing European leaders on their financial problems as well. The Obama administration’s track record of out-of-control government spending and borrowing, a $1.3 trillion budget deficit (the largest since World War Two), combined with mammoth bailouts, has been nothing short of disastrous. 14 million Americans are out of work, the housing market is in a state of collapse, and job growth is practically non-existent outside of the Washington Beltway. And the advice his flailing government is now giving across the Atlantic will inevitably prolong the huge economic turmoil in Europe, rather than help bring it to an end."

Its a STUPID PLAN, as defined by the socialist Germans (who are loved and respected by some in this forum): http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/financialcrisis/8793010/Germany-slams-stupid-US-plans-to-boost-EU-rescue-fund.html

But don't worry. Taxing the rich will fix all of this!

The worst of it is that their economies are in bad shape due to their purchasing of our AAA credit default swaps. So, we (in part) cause their banks' troubles and then have the gall to lecture them on how to fix it. If our own "fixes" had worked, we might be in a position to deliver such a lecture. OTOH...........

We do have some leverage. According to the article the US is propping up the EU banks.

But they've got it completely under control, sure :p

And it's Barack Hussein Obama. Need the middle name for full effect lol.

You know, I'm not real happy with the guy these days either. But, sometimes I almost feel compelled to defend him, much in the way one might rescue a geek from the playground bullies. Yeah, he's a geek, but sometimes it just gets ridiculous.

Being short, bucktoothed* and prematurely balding, I was often the target of bullies myself.

There was a kid in my neighborhood who is autistic. The other kids picked on him mercilessly. And, yes, I got into lots of fights protecting him. The kid couldn't defend hmself. When I saw someone hit him, I would fly into a rage and go after them.

I saw him a couple years ago, still living with his mother. He saw me and got all excited. Gave me a bear hug, in front of a bunch of people in the grocery store, jumping up and down, yelling, "DAVE! DAVE! DAVE!"---It was actually kind of embarrassing. Carolyn, his mother, told me, "You know you're still his hero, don't you?"

(Carolyn is the daughter of Tili Darak, the holocaust survivor I've mentioned.)

(*My parents "helped" by getting braces put on me. Of course this only meant I went from "Bucky" to "Metalmouth" and the harrassment got worse.)

That is quite admirable of you to defend him. That's a touching story. I was picked on up to HS before I realized my reach was longer and I hit harder than most of the bullies. After that, all those assholes wanted to be friends.

I disagree. It's part of setting up Congress. The administration has realized that saying that the shape of the economy is Bush's fault will not connect with the voting public (even though it is true). By saying that we're the ones in office, he's scoring points for honesty; but it will also allow the administration to point to Congress' failure to pass his jobs bill as a cause of continued unemployment. Keeping it in the present means that the way things are belongs to everyone who is in office. That allows the admin to share the blame with an even more unpopular congress. I think old Joe was crazy like a fox this time.

Come on people, what is the choice? Perry, Bachman, Santorum, Paul et. al. are babbling idiots, Cain is in the backpocket of the wealthy, and Romney's "business expertise" consists of leveraged buyouts of companies, loading them with debt then selling them off. So how is that any different the what Congress has done to America? Christie, if he does not lose weight is a coronary looking for a place to happen so if he runs his choice of VP will be of tremendous importance. Newtie was on Newshour last night and he is so full of himself it is embarassing.

Some clown attacked me on Facebook earlier this week. Started going on about Reagan and the conservative movement....Anyhow, he asked, "What, you don't think we've done an excellent job?" I said, "Of course you have. Isn't it obvious? You guys always leave things in wonderful shape. No chickens coming home to roost here, are there? Look!! We just extended the Bush tax cuts for the second time! YIPPIE!!! Think the economy will spring to life now?" I haven't heard from him since.

Then there was the old classmate from Texas, who wanted to brag about Gov. Perry being a "....solid Christian man.". I asked her, "How'd the governors Big Tent Prayin' for Rain hullabaloo work out, Gayle? Looks to me like the place dried up some more and burst into flames. Maybe God doesn't care for old slick hairs bullshit anymore than the rest of us do?" She's gone MIA as well.

Oh, then you'll know how tall he is? I agree he is a bit strange, but then that's part of Hollywood. There seems to be an inordinate number of cult members there. BTW, the current hot topic there is the Ecclestone sisters , Petra and Tamara. They are each acquiring 100 million pound properties. Petra bought Aaron Spelling's old house and Tamara is still searching. The only thing that Hollywood is good at these days is sniffing out money.

My comment was intended more as a tribute to Nicholson than a diss of Cruise. That clip has to be one of the great moments of acting history,

On the other hand, similar to Bogart, Nicholson's personality has a tendency to overpower many of his roles. It works fine with fictional characters, but when he played Jimmy Hoffa, I could never get past the idea that I was seeing Nicholson play Hoffa, rather than seeing Hoffa on the screen.

My son would be perfectly happy dissing Cruise. He says he wouldn't see a movie by Cruise, Will Smith or Travolta because he doesn't want his money going to Scientology.

Just a side note, bit of trivia.

Westminster Cathedral is also St. Peter's church, well once when some work was needed on St.Paul's Cahedral they took money intended for Westminster Cathedral and used it for St. Paul's Cathedral, hence robbing Peter to pay Paul.
