The refugees from Manhattan are flooding Brooklyn. The result: They have driven up the cost of living in Brooklyn.

The Williamsburg/Greenpoint area in particular finds itself under tremendous pressure. This is a Polish/Puerto Rican/Hasidic Jew area in which a couple years ago there was reasonable priced shelter. Now the Polish and Puerto Ricans are displaced by bicycle riding hipsters and the Hasidics are up in arms against men in spandex riding through their neighborhood. :D
