Is that beast tubed, Rob? Years ago, I acquired an older tubed Lafayette integrated that had pretty much been destroyed in a garage fire. I stripped it for whatever parts I could salvage. Amazingly, all of the tubes were still good and most were premium tubes that I sold for fat cash on ebay. Smoked glass Mullard 6BQ5s, black plate RCA 7025s (kept those) and Telefunken EZ80s.

In retrospect, I should have kept the Mullards and sold those RCAs. They would have been glorious in my Maggie 9302. But, I got $220 for the quad..................used.

This receiver is from the early seventies, beyond the tube age. I like this receiver, and even more if the enclosure would have wood veneer instead of vinyl veneer.

Lafayette gear is difficult to find in Germany.

Definitely no Sturmstaffel (SS) receiver! :D

My mind refered for decades just to the top killer section of the Führer when I encountered the abbreviation SS...that changed when I started to join AudioKarma.

naw no tubes unfortunately. I wish! its got a date stamped on the bottom june 27 1969. I have a lr-1500ta also that has the wood case, they look good together, almost a match. its not super early SS, I have a Lr-200T that is though, its from 1965, looks totally different, and theres a tube model that looks identical to it. it says on it "transistorized tuner amplifier" on it. -I was still in AK when I restored that one you sould be able to find it if youre curious

Well, Hitler did not ;) make Hifi gear, rather low Fi gear, recpectively he was responsible for it and this was the

VOLKSEMPFÄNGER VE 301

Empfänger means receiver, VE is the abbreviation, and 301 refers to 30.1. 1933 ( 1/30/1933). This day the democracy in Germany was buried and the tyrant elected. The VE 301 is also called "Goebbels Schnauze" which means "Goebbels Muzzle". Goebbels was the Führer's chief agitator. The broadcasts of nazi propaganda by the cheap VE 301 was remarkably responsible for the contamination of a widespread share of the population with nazi crap.

Your most favourite German word Bob? It should rather be "Gemütlichkeit" or "Heimat" or something like that... ;)

Anyway more than twice as much posts here than on AudioKarma.

Exactly 12K - oh my, that is very impressive. Sandy from AudioKarma calls himself a poster whore... grin...

Congratulations!!!

:)
