GM names its first female CEO

"Mary Barra led the development of such critically acclaimed models as the seventh-generation Corvette, GM's new truck lineup, two new rear-wheel-drive Cadillac sedans and the 2014 Impala."

Kind of a stretch to say she lead development of the new Vette, cause she didn't, but she's a good choice for CEO. Best one that GM has had since the bankruptcy. Which is damning with faint praise, I realize.

Age old story if you want the job done right give it to a woman.

A Corvette is a "chick car." :)

Say what???? The Vette is one of the most serious performance cars in the world. You can even get a manual transmission, which no Ferrari or Lamborghini offers.

A chick car? No way.

What you smoking in that cigar of yours? :)

Rob, average age of a new Corvette buyer is 59 and the Vette does not have a back seat. :D

Being 59 is not equivalent to being decrepit, at least it sure as hell was not in my day.:)

'Chicks' cannot appreciate serious performance cars?

'Chicks' cannot appreciate serious performance cars?

Women certainly can. However, saying something is a "chick car" is a pejorative. No real woman would want a "chick car"! :)

Barbara, this was meant to be a light hearted thread.
Would be great if more women bought Corvettes other than us old geeks. I was 57 when I bought mine and it is a 6 speed manual. 55 was the average age of a vette owner then!

For the past several decades, the Corvette has been a car for middle-aged men in the throes of a mid-life crisis. It's kind of a shame, given its value/performance ratio. However, I think it's firmly stuck appealing primarily m to that demographic.

Sorry but fumbling around in the back seat is my idea of sheer idiocy. Now fooling around in a king size bed, that is totally different.;)

I've had good sex, bad sex, mediocre sex in a variety of situations.

In a variety of venues. I must admit, the king sized bed is by far the most comfortable...and I've even fallen out of one of those in a splendid display of swordsmanship...thank God I didn't break my arm!!!

Even the sword managed to survive without further damage.

But whenever I think about it, only two exceptional sexual experiences come to mind. Perhaps three.

Chas

BTW, I'm still sober enough to delete the remainder of this post. But if you're 30 yrs old, doing LSD, and get a chance for a BJ on a pile of rocks...don't turn it down.

You'll remember it forever. Fondly.

And that's a fact.

I had one of those V-Dub vans when I was a kid. '62 model I think.

I'll say one thing for it, it didn't burn much gas. It burned pistons instead.

I suddenly feel old and from another generation as I was raised to believe that a woman should not give herself to me unless we were married or about to be. So my first wife was my first as I was hers.

When that marriage was on the ropes there were two ladies that I knew who shared an appartment. Apparently they had a bet on as to who would get me in bed first, at least that is what the winner told me.

Interestingly enough Florence is the first woman I have made love with, not to, and it has been the same for her, despite our earlier marriages. Don't ask me to describe the difference as I do not have the words.:)
