Oh, Christmas Tree!

Yesterday, my idiot neighbor was decorating his home for the Holiday. He did a good job, looks nice. Now, I didn't decorate outside, but I have my tree up in the front window and I always decorate my HiFi rig (Garland wrapped around the rack and those multicolored minilights festooning the pictures and absorbtion panels on the walls.).

Anyhow, last night I was walking my dogs past his house and I commented on how nice it looks. He responded, "Thanks. So why the fuck don't you decorate your place? What, you don't believe in Christmas? You think it's not PC? I'm gonna set up one of those things, and project a nativity scene right on your wall! I'm not calling it a Holiday Tree! It's a fucking Christmas Tree!"

I responded, "Well I see you have a true understanding of the meaning of Christmas, all boozed up and shouting obscenities in front of children out in the street. Yep, that's what Jesus would do. God Bless you, and have a Merry Christmas, Grady." He just stood there all red faced and staring at me.

I have a Christmas tree right in the front window. I guess he was just too sloshed and bleary eyed to see it.

Why is it, every Holliday Season I have to listen to idiots like Grady bitch as if someone is trying to destroy Christmas? If you ask me, it has already been thoroughly wrecked by commercialism.
So what, Obama called it a "Holiday Tree", we all know what it is and he can call it whatever he wants. He can name it Fred for all I care. And I'll call mine a Christmas Tree and you can call yours whatever you want. That's "freedom of speech" in my eyes.

But, see, this is just the kind of silly propagandistic crap people get all twisted up about, and guys like Hannity and Beck are always there to egg them on. It's insane.

Funny you should mention that, Grumpy. When I was a kid we had a Jewish family in our neighborhood in Ohio. Very nice, friendly folks. Anyhow, every Christmas/Hannukah they would decorate their property with lots of lights---and a big lighted "Star of David" on the front of the house. Nobody cared, nobody messed with them. My parents taught me to respect other peoples religious beliefs.
Could you imagine that now?
I put a Bhudda statue in my front yard a couple years ago. (Still there, BTW.) Now, I'm not a Bhuddist, I just thought it was a cool looking statue. But it wasn't even a full day before I was given some grief about it by the Pat Robertson followers next door. What was funny was that those idiots didn't really know what it was, the guy told me, "If you want to worship Hindu Gods why don't you move to Africa?" :confused:Ignoramus.
