So, unless you are planning to use wood for primary heat after 2015, you have nothing to worry about. And, even then, only if the unit is manufactured after 2015.

If your gonna do it, do it now.

Me? I prefer gas heat anyways, it's easier, really not all that expensive and cleaner. So I really couldn't care less.

However, I imagine the initial cost of installing wood based heat will rise substantially.

Question; I wonder how they propose reducing emissions from woodstoves?

I know in industry, we separate particulates from exhaust with cyclonic separators and bag houses. Gases are burned off with an afterburner just upstream of the stacks. But, that is on a much larger scale.

It's already happened in parts of Europe. Open wood fires are dirty. Camping without fires? I don't see the point. Sit in the dark and drink beer just doesn't seem as fun.

EPA been doing this in Fairbanks for years now...in regards to the wood stove use in the winter...upgrades are rather expensive from what ive read...

I am quite sure our Heatilator fireplae is grandfathered and I can heat the whole house with it.
