Because as long as Liberals cant point at people like you and enforce the victim mentality they can continue to pretend to prop up lazy folks who are not responsible while infact holding them down with the other hand.
They need to create a "enemy" before they can create the savior and if you have worked hard, saved, lived a humble within your means lifestyle while you climbed the ladder of economic success your reward is you "owe" losers your hard earned money. One way or another they will take it even if they do it in death. Remember when Barry said "Spread the wealth" to that plumber idiot???????? Thats how these criminals think but our President has always lived off of everyone elses money so thats no surprise.

You don't actually mean "they" want to allow illegals to vote even though they're illegal, do you? I think what you mean is "they" want to give undocumented aliens what has been called a path to citizenship, right?
Did you know that "they" now includes Lou Dobbs? Did you know that St. Ronnie actually went even farther than anyone's talking about now? He just said, "You've been here for four years" Okay, you can stay."
Soon, there won't be any point being a "Natural-Born Citizen".
There never was, as opposed to being a naturalized citizen. Are you against naturalization? Or maybe you're in favor of some sort of two-tiered system of citizenship where those of us clever enough to get born here have more rights than those who came from somewhere else?
And once these "citizens" figure out that they can vote themselves a raise, courtesy of the treasury, the jig's up for the ones footing the bill. I think we're almost there now...

Seriously though, I really don't get the point of this show. I can see 1 or 2 shows, maybe even a short series, but I just read that it was going onto it's second season.
Second season???
I watched one show out of curiosity and bits and pieces of a couple of others while flipping around. Theme remains constant with year and what falls down that afternoon.
Serious and scary voice announcing:
One thousand-seven years after people... all Wal-marts collapse on the same day...
It's interesting for about 20 minutes and then your mind wanders off, wondering if you forgot to let the dog in.

I'm really disappointed in that whole Discovery family of channels. Twenty-odd years ago they had really great programming with nature and science documentary and education programs from all over the world. It was wonderful but after the first 5 years or so they started dumbing down and sensationalizing their programming. They still do some good stuff but mostly it's crap.
Just to keep this political ;) when Newt was trying to defund PBS because shows like McNiell Lehrer didn't kiss enough Republican ass, he insisted that we didn't need a public tax payer supported TV network when the private sector had such fine things as the Discovery Channel and the Learning Channel.
Yeah, right! Our kids could learn all about tattoos, choppers and sharks.

As a lot of you know, I'm kinda keen on planes. Fighters, bombers, airliners, puddlejumpers, the works. I never soloed, but I got good enuff my instructor was able to sit there w/his hands crossed when I landed. Taking off or actually flying is really child's play-If you can drive a car, you can prolly get one off & fly it. Landing is a little tougher, but you do it & do it, & do it again until its second nature as well. Anyhow, it REALLY bugs me on the Military Channel, the show, "Great Planes", how they INCESSANTLY feel the need to have a "Whoosh !" sound efx, & jiggle the picture EVERY TIME they change scenes...Dammit, I wanna know about a B-25, f'r instance, NOT see what wonderful EFX the twenty-something, MTV-besotted director has dreamed up... Grrrrrr....On so many of those type of shows, be they about planes, tanks, rifles, whatever, there is about 5-10 minutes of real solid info, the rest is EFX bullshit & flashiness, I guess to try to attract the MP3/Ipod/gamer generation...Just more liberal moral degeneracy...(To keep this political...)(grin)

We are there, Sandy. I saw a chart the other day which showed that more people worked for the government than worked in private industry. And the government workers on the average made more money than those in private industry. And this was just the people who had jobs, they're plenty more who are drawing a government check.
Not to mention that the Treasury's liabilities are several times the nations GNP. And that's gross, not net. I can remember when the local farmers used to joke about how there were more people working for the Dep't of Agriculture than there were farmers.
Maybe they weren't joking.

Maybe that is because all these noble rich folks y'all admire have not handed out any raises to the few poor bastards whose jobs have yet to be shipped off to China. It is not hard to understand why there are more people working for government since there was zero, naught, nada, job growth under the republicans in the last eight years.
Funny how the righties always bring any thread back to taxes.

When your liabilities are several times your gross, you've got serious problems. I also remember seeing Clinton, GHWB, and Carter standing tall speaking of the benefits of NAFTA.
Both parties have sold us down the river. And taxes, if we were to tax everyone at 100% we still wouldn't have the capital to meet our obligations.
As I see it, the only option we have is to move the digit a couple of clicks to the left on the screen and inflate away our obligations. Or go belly up.

It is about taxes for me. Liberating a significant portion of my income in the form of taxes and pumping it into the public sector is not and will not change whats happening.

NAFTA (North American Free Trade Association) is not the problem, China is not in North Americ at least they were not the last time I looked. And if you think it is free trade in NorAm just try shipping something to Canada, what a PITA. The problem was the neocons trying to give everyone and his brother free access to our markets. The last place I worked they could not wait to move their technology to China (where it will get reverse engineered and stolen, just watch Intel suddenly facing competition with their own chips.) All these captains of industry y'all admire so much are perfectly willing to sell out the country for 30 pieces of silver.

Employment and a fair wage create wealth. If you earn good money you spend it. Henry Ford wanted his employees to earn enough so they could afford to buy one of the cars they built. That philosophy helped Ford at least as much as it helped the workers.
True, the government doesn't make anything but, as an employer, it gives its employees the spending power to buy things that the private sector makes. That generates wealth.
During the Great Depression federal programs like the WPA and federal infrastructure projects like the TVA. Put people to work and gave them a paycheck with which they could buy things and thereby help rebuild the economy.
Don't be so quick to dismiss the government's power to create wealth.

Say, that's a pretty good deal!!!
But the biggest bunch of crooks I've run into are the QuickieBooks people. I had to call for an activation key the other night and all they wanted to do was to talk me into upgrading to QB2010. First they lied to me and said they didn't support 2007 any more even though I still have a valid subscription. Then that pointed out that with 2010 I would be able to send my records directly to the IRS.
I told them that I don't talk to the IRS, I have an accountant that talks to the IRS. Then they asked if I would like for them to send my forms to the IRS.
I finally told them, "Don't you send a DAMN thing to the IRS!" After which I got my activation key.
It really sucks when you have to format a hard drive.

There ain't no reason at all that building/repairing bridges can't be a part of it. The work needs doing and folks can earn a living doing the work.
