Pardon my typo in header

Well not sure how much traction it has because it just broke on CBS today but the party that was so critical about out of touch CEO's and Corporations operating in a business as usual manner during a time when many Americans are hurting has been caught living by its own set of rules once again. This is the same party that siad "The party is over" warned the business community of taking trips to Vegas and other destinations, the same party who lined up to lecture the big three CEO's for flying to bailout hearings in private jets.
It has been reported that over 100 staffers and family members flew on taxpayers dime to Denmark for the Climate conference not long ago. This expense added up to over $200,000 dollars for everyone who pays taxes. One could argue some staffers may have been justified but while the exact numbers are not known surely family isnt something John Q Public should have to pay for IMO. This wasnt broke by the evil Rightwing or FOX news, this comes to you from the folks at CBS, an outfit arguably favorable to the Left in general.
Do you think this story will have legs?

That's diffrent, donchu know NUTHIN' ?!? They's doin' The People's Work, Sacrosanct from the Creator (We CAN'T mention "God", separation of church 'n' state, y'know....) so, how DARE you question their motives...They're standin' up to those filthy, evil businessmen who meet nightly to plot ways to further break the backs of their poor, oppressed workers...And, furthermore, By God, (We can use That Word now, since its NOT in context of religion) We're the Almighty US Federal Gummint, it's OUR money, we'll spend as much 'n' on whatever we want to, YOU can go climb up a Piss-Rope, if you don't like it. So there. N'yah....

The rules only apply the the great unwashed. This sentiment can certainly be found on both sides but is a hallmark of the left.

Will it get legs? Nah.

This forum is becoming to much like a fox broadcast.

In the past this forum was a right wing dominated place but the posters were "real." Folks who really believed it was "their" country, all cities are immoral, old fashioned ideas were valid even as time changes things.

Now it seems posters on the right have no "real" authenticity. It seems to me they have become a generic echo chamber for the wealthy as programed by Fox.

Most political sites on the net offer this mindless chanting.

It would be ashame if this site degenerated to this.

If the taxpayers paid for staff families to take the trip, criticism is justified. Even if there were a legitimate reason to pay for the families, there would certainly be grounds for disagreement over whether there could be a valid justification. However, if the staffers paid the freight for their families to take the trip, which is permissible under most expense policies I am aware of, most of the grounds for criticism fades away. I would like to see if the records were reviewed sufficiently to determine whether there was reimbursement from the staff members for such expenses. There would still be grounds for criticism about the level of necessary staff, but that would be a difference in judgment, not a scandal.
