A poll of self-identified Republicans showed that:

63% think President Obama is a socialist;
39% want him impeached;
31% think he a racist who hates white people;
36% believe he wasn't born in this country (I wonder how many of those don't know that Hawaii is a state);
67% want creationism taught in schools;
31% want contraceptives outlawed;
23% want their state to secede from the United States. and
83% plan to vote in the November elections

Maybe I'm being harsh on fox. A lot of them might have learned it from rush limbaugh.

You left some out:

24% think Obama wants the terrorists to win,
21% think ACORN stole the election for Obama,
77% oppose gay marriage,
55% think gays should not be allowed to serve in the military,
68% think gays should receive no state or federal benefits,
73% think openly gay people shouldn't be allowed to teach in public schools,
51% think sex education shouldn't be taught in schools,
31% think contraception should be outlawed and
34% think birth control is abortion.

PLUS, Sarah Palin is the preferred presidential candidate for the Republicans in 2012, 53% believing she's more qualified than President Obama.

You know the message that comes through for me? There is no effing point in trying to have a dialog with these people. Total waste of time.

"...conducted by Research 2000 for the Liberal blog Daily Kos"

Here is a bit off the Research 2000 website in the "About us" section:

"The Company

RESEARCH 2000 is a nonpartisan full service research firm that conducts surveys and focus groups for advocacy groups, trade associations, businesses and over 300 news media organizations.

We’ll Meet Your Needs

What separates us from other firms is that we “LISTEN” to our clients. By listening, and consulting with our clients we develop and design the most effective research strategy that will accurately define and measure what our clients need to know. When we speak, we tell you what you need to know, not what you want to hear. See our Services Page for more information on what we do."

I'm wondering if they made good on their claims by "LISTENING" to their client and provided what was asked for. I would sure like to see the geographic, demographic and data collection methods used here.

You can tell a lot about a pollster by looking at their client list. There is some info about that immediately following the excerpt from their web site you quoted above.

There's really no pattern, no predominance of customers from a certain part of the ideological spectrum. They conduct polls for Rupert Murdoch's Wall Street Journal, the New York Times and the Christian Science Monitor, to name only three. Non-media clients are quite diverse as well, from The New Mexico Gaming Commission to the National Education Assn.

This ain't the Left's answer to Rasmussen.

23% want their state to secede from the United States.

I guess this is where I agree with the Wingnuts. I also wish they'd all move to a couple of contiguous red states and secede. The per capita GDP and education level of the remaining USA would go up significantly.

South Carolina, Georgia and Alabama perhaps. If they need more room, perhaps we could throw in Mississippi.

Maybe even if they don't need the room.

Now your going after Rasmussen???

"About Us
Rasmussen Reports is an electronic media company specializing in the collection, publication, and distribution of public opinion polling information.
As a media company, we make our money by selling advertising, title sponsorships, subscriptions, and content. One thing we don’t sell is polls. Because we value our independence and credibility, Rasmussen Reports cannot be hired to conduct a poll for anyone. For our reports, we decide the questions to ask based upon the needs and interests of our audience. If it’s in the news, it’s in our polls.

One thing we’re very proud of during the political season is our bi-partisan audience. Rasmussen Reports is one of the few political sites to attract roughly equal numbers of Republicans, Democrats, and unaffiliated voters. However, we’re also excited about events beyond the realm of politics including business, current events, and lifestyle topics. Rasmussen Reports conducts a daily measure of consumer and investor confidence that was launched in October 2001, a monthly employment index that began in 2003, and a number of other business related index products.
Rasmussen Reports’ campaign coverage has been praised for its independence, accuracy and reliability.

Douglas E. Schoen, a pollster for President William J. Clinton, says "Rasmussen Reports is one of America's most insightful and analytical sources of data and analysis on U.S. public opinion. They are fearlessly independent, always ahead of the curve, and offer unique insights unavailable anywhere else. I rely on them to keep me informed about what is happening today and is likely to happen tomorrow.""

I guess your saying that Research 2000 (polsters for hire) is much more appealing than Rasmussen, who has no client list?

I ain't say'in, I'm just say'in.

Now your going after Rasmussen???

Yup! The last person you should listen to about Rasmussen is Rasmussen.

This is from Wikipedia.

"As of 2009, Scott Rasmussen is the President of Rasmussen Reports. He describes himself as having 'been an independent pollster for more than a decade' who '[l]ike the company he started, [...] maintains his independence and has never been a campaign pollster or consultant for candidates seeking office'. However, the Center for Public Integrity listed his firm as having been paid $95,500 by the Republican National Committee and $45,500 by the George W. Bush presidential campaign in 2003-4. He has had at least one article published by the Democratic Leadership Council, a group of centrist Democrats whose goal is to make the 'Democratic party more moderate, rather than more liberal.'"

His polls routinely show Republicans in a better light than do those of any of the other big polling firms.

Oh ok. So it appears that they both do polls for hire, and what your are saying is that Rasmussen, is as credible as Research 2000 by default then.

I think I'm following now :rolleyes:

I believe that I could write my own Wikipedia entry could I not?

All pollsters do polling for hire. Sheesh! I'm not making any assertions about Research 2000 beyond the fact that, unlike Rasmussen, they don't have a reputation for biased polling.

You know, you're gonna believe what you want and, clearly, what you want to believe is that Scott Rasmussen is a non-partisan objective pollster when, in fact, he's a Republican consultant and operative who denies those associations even though they're a matter of public record.

As for Wikipedia, there was a citation for the information about Rasmussen's political consulting work. Here's the original.

http://projects.publicintegrity.org/consultants/list.aspx?act=conDetail&id=122002

If you feel like it why not Google "Rasmussen Republican Bias" and see what you get. Do the same for Research 2000.

I'm sure Research 2000 is a stand up operation and would never be swayed by the payday provided by a customer.

I don't love everybody but I wish I had kept the email my nephew sent. Too stupid? Well a couple of contestants on "So you want to be a millionaire' failed the following two questions;

What is bigger?
a) an elephant, or
b) the moon.

What is George W Bush's first name?
a) Edward, or
b) George.

and they are walking the streets.:D
