Must they be as draconian as they are now? Even 125 characters would be a welcome liberalization, but heck, why not go crazy and allow 200 characters, and 3 lines?

I experimented with a change in the number of characters. It doesn't appear that I can change the number of lines. Try a new sig.

Oddly enough, it still squawks about being over 100 characters, but the complaint about having more than two lines has gone away....

The one I'm trying to post is 132 characters, including spaces, with one line break.

For your convenience DQ I will try to limit my pearls of wisdom to below 132 characters so as to make it easier for you to quote me.

Under current conditions, you need to be under 100 characters. Considerably under, if you want credit as well....

Anyway, I'm sticking with my request for 200. That way I can quote a whole entire tweet, and say who made it and when.

This archaic social media we're on here needs a few tweeks, at least, to mesh well in the current cyber environment....

Unfortunately, when it comes to software changes, I have satisfied the Peter Principle.

Maybe you should delegate. After all, the new kid needs to establish his worth.

I am quite impressed with the software Steve Hoffman uses.
Although some of our misgu, um er conservative friends may not get too many likes here lol.

You could perhaps ask whoever changed it to revise it again? The limits used to be much higher.

I would imagine he's gotta be worth close to what he's getting paid. Maybe not quite, but close.

The new quote required some shoehorning to get it to exactly 100 characters.

I miss the good old days, with wide limits on the length of quotes. Was this a measure to fight malicious code? Can't you disable HTML in them, instead?

Nobody wants hear you cry about the lack of space for long-winded sigs.
Time to move on.

1. How do you know what everybody else wants?

2. The thread was quiet until you bumped it. So really, it's you keeping the cause of 'quotes as large as tweets' alive! Thank-you!

You just answered your own question without knowing it...IMO of course.

What makes you so sure I didn't know it, for what it's worth, which is about nothing...IMO, of course.

The actual point, of course, is that you had nothing to complain about, and you just posted here to vent a little hostility

Still limited to 2 lines though....

Grumpy

I think 2 lines should be good fer now. Otherwise some folks will have full on paragraphs for sigs.
