The interior minister : Germany to start border control with Austria and Schengen, the free movement of people between many EU countries, could be
suspended.

I guess stark reality staring Germany in the face: Uncontrol entry from conflict zones is foolhardy.

I doubt "uncontrolled entry from conflict zones" was ever the plan. Germany has said all along that, in light of the present crisis, border controls might become necessary and Shengen has always had provisions for temporary suspensions for exigent reasons.

Of course, border controls aren't synonymous with sealed borders and razor wire à la Hungary.

800000 migrants in 2015, how many in 2016? The German tax payer will get a 10 billions bill next year (the six billions the Government was talking about ten days ago are already history).

These facts are more and more difficult to mediate to the German people. The Government has actually to consider measures that are not "attractive" in order to cope with the absurd situation. Almost all European nations (except Sweden and Germany) just watch the dramatic situation and comment it with cosy farts.

Turkey would definitely like to empty its refugee camps into Europe and there is
a big resistance from Eastern Block Europe.

Hungary by its action gave Germany some breathing space. Germany tried threats to bring Europe to accept quotas but Europe balked.

Merkel now wants to address/aid the early areas of transit such as Italy, Greece and Turkey.
