If you can sell crap, why shouldn't you offer crap! Well done, China.

Bastian Schweinsteiger (called "Schweini", yes this is "swinie"... ;)) is one of the most popular soccer players in Germany. He influenced decisevly the World Cup Final in Brazil in 2014, so that the team won the cup back then.

Schweini is a person of full integrity and he is engaged in several social projects. Despite his enormous successes, he remained a very humble man.

Ambrose Bierce had it right. Commerce = piracy.

ON EDIT: Original version of my post attributed quip to wrong guy, and used wrong noun. Memory eventually got in gear enough for me to have doubts, and look it up....

Full quote is in the form of a definition:

PIRACY, n. Commerce without its folly-swaddles, just as God made it.

Somewhere in the attic I have a book by Bierce, with alphabetical evil definitions, I forgot the title. Very cynical - great!

I'm a fan of Mr. Pigclimber. He's an excellent player and model citizen.

World Cup Final 2014.

First picture with cut, second picture about an hour later...

The pic shows him costumed as a Wehrmacht soldier, not a "Nazi" as the ensemble lacks a party member's badge pin.
Perfectly acceptable historical protrayal, afaik, displaying/ promoting Nazi party regalia and symbols is still forbidden in Germany.

On his chest you see the Reichsadler with the Hakenkreuz. From my point of view - and the point of view of the German public as well - the puppet is rather a Nazi than a disciple of a Zen monastry.

Hakenkreuz also on this cap, this is a NO GO in Germany, a NO GO!

However - the most annoying aspect for us is that the puppet connects a relation between the Nationalsozialismus and this honest, sincere person.

The hakenkreuz does not show on the pic on my device, iirc still forbidden in Germany

They may well have altered the insignia design a bit. It's the sort of 'edge up to the line' game that is always played, when lines of censorship are drawn.

This is 12 years of German history that shouldn't be ignored or forgotten, but any semblance of promotion of the source of this global and national disaster is not to be tolerated.

Text on the left:

"On the forage cap of the fantasy uniform one can see the Hakenkreuz."

This is the High Speed Streamliner 01 1102 from 1939. Picture is from 1999. Below the Reichsadler the Hakenkreuz is covered. Meanwhile the entire badge has been removed.

It is a Hakenkreuz imitation, anyway. No mercy for this crap.

Enlarging the pic shows the Reichsadler still present fronting the bright metal streamline accents, minus the hakenkreuz of course.

I believe what he's saying is that the Reichsadler, minus the Hakenkreuz is to be seen in both photos you posted. I think there may be some confusion as to your meaning when you say "Meanwhile the entire badge has been removed." Do you mean it was removed for one of the photos you posted or do you mean that, subsequent to 1999, the emblem has been entirely removed, swastika, eagle and all? (It has.)

By the way, that's a very cool locomotive!

Heh. Looks pretty 'developing world' to me. And the boxes look old. But, English on the cartons. So, former British colony, largely Moslem. Maybe Bangladesh or Siri Lanka?

History of the series for railroad buffs:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DRB_Class_01.10

FWIW, while I was stationed at Grafenwohr in 1968, the local scrap yard received a contract to scrap iirc twenty eight of the steam locos. I took a series of pics of the process that are in a safe place somewhere around here. I got one of the speedometers as a souvenir and mounted a jeweled platform clock movement in it, keeping the speedo dial. A friend who was a train buff got it decades ago.
