"The officer had been stealing and laundering money from a police department program that mentored young people hoping to become law enforcement officers, Filenko said. Gliniewicz, a leader in that program, had been stealing money for at least seven years, he said. "

Next question: did he manufacture false evidence in any other cases?

Yikes. This was such a huge story here. The guy was featured to be a prince among men and a model cop. It went on like that for days and days. I suspect those sorts of news stories continued even after the Fox Lake PD began to realize something was off.

I'm still confused though. How does a guy shoot himself to death and a crime scene team where everybody's paying attention not know almost right away? Or within a couple of days of going over all the information.

By being an expert in crime scenes.

If recall, this guy was an instructor?

I don't believe he was a crime scene investigator speci@list instructor, Zeke. My thought was...perhaps somebody else was involved and did some creative gun placement or provided some other assistance in an attempt to pull off the story. I understand a bunch of "killed in the line of duty" benefit money that went to his family is probably going to have to be returned. In excess of $50,000. A pretty strong incentive to make it look like a murder.

Which "those guys" would that be?

I'm only guessing, of course, but how about crooked, embezzling cops?

Additionally to fit in with the current argument that cops are under siege. Such as was instigated by the evil one Obama.

Take their cushy pensions and benefits and make them earn it. But then again if we are all armed to the teeth and use self driving cars, we won't need any policing would we?
