Very well deserved. From Ukraine to the Middle East, she is the moral conscience of the West.

Congratulations, Frau Merkel!

Frau Merkel has sold out the west and is now being acclaimed by the globalists.

Trump tweeted his disappointment at not being picked and criticized Merkel for "ruining" Germany. Classy fellow, he.

You should get used to what you see here, Dondillon. Poor man, eight years of torture for you!

Because she let the Muslims in?

What he's saying is basically that Time cheated him out of the award.

"I told you @TIME Magazine would never pick me as person of the year despite being the big favorite They picked person who is ruining Germany"

I think he may have already done that.

Actually, Trump may be doing a public service by casting a bright light on the unsavory underbelly of a significant portion of the GOP base.

Just don't move to Brooklyn. That's a very scary place full of brown people wearing masks.

Anyone (black, brown, pink, yellow) wearing mask is scary.

Long ago I told you to visit Brussels. Or probably you should check Malmo.

This the only day of the year TIME is referenced anywhere.

It is the alternate universe Playboy. "Yes, I bought an issue of TIME, but I only get it for the pictures."

TIME = Reader's Digest = People.

I remember when TIME and LIFE had some decent writing.

Time's "Person of the Year" has never been "Nice Guy of the Year". It has always been based on a person's impact on events. Actually, it was more that way in the past than it is now. The outcry that greeted Time naming the Ayatollah Khomeini Person of the Year made the editors back away somewhat from controversial figures.

I hope that Angela and Hillary will be a fruitful "duet" in the next years. Fruitful for our global village.

And this is what Obama tweeted in German:

"HERZLICHEN GLÜCKWUNSCH!"

A very nice gesture!

Obviously Dondillon needs an umlaut extra lesson. It is Malmö. On your keybord you can type that this way: Malmoe. Malmo is crap.

Malmo with its warring immigrant groups is indeed crap.

And BTW when it comes to Malmo, the NY times, Financial Times, RT, Reuters etc print - Malmo. This suggest to me that Malmo is acceptable/optional for English writers.

Anyhow the important thing is from your umlaut 'lesson' you have correctly identified the city to which I referred and therefore should have no problem finding it.

You are priceless Dondillon. I hope you know how to pronounce "Malmo" correctly. If we carry on this way we will become the "PC Love Couple of the Year".

So the Chancellor of Germany will be - most likely - Angela Merkel until 2021. She announced her canditature for another term today.

Everlasting Angie... ;)

I think this is not the worst thing in times of Trump and Brexit and spreading populism...

Don't look now, but Time Magazine's "Person of the Year" is now calling for a full burka ban. So much for religious freedom Maybe a nice hunk of racial or religious profiling thrown in for good measure.

HarmanKardon
12-06-2016, 01:04 PM
I am familiar with your discriminating posts, whell - but your post, donquixote99, is quite a disappointment.

Merkel does not surf the populist tide. The Burka has been discussed for a while: religious freedom vs. female humiliation in a Western society. Burkas in the streets of Germany are absolutely inacceptable.

I would like both of you to switch on your brains and reconsider your comments.

Mike can you tell me who is under a damn burka and if they are wearing an explosive vest? We were silly enough to give a woman (well she said she was a woman) to one wearing her burka. With the limited vision that outfit allows (s)he is an accident looking for a place to happen.

The fact that whell quotes "The Sun", which is one of the most untrustworthy, mean, rotten daily newspapers on this planet - even more worse than the German "Bild" - is a proof of his poor education.
