GE Cutting 12,000 Jobs

More Trump winning! Are you tired of all the winning yet?

This is due to the decline in power generation from coal and natural gas.
So guess the Trump's promise of a resurgence in coal mining is not working?

Companies like GE, Honeywell are still living in the 60's & 70's culture and unless they change their operating philosophy, their survival will be doubtful.

Indeed..while other countries are making giant steps in clean energy the US is mired in old outdated energy technology, mythology and a gripping fear of moving forward.

Wounder if Hairer (Chinese owned) being the new owner of GE has something to do with the job loss?

Like taking the equipment, processes and technology back home where labor costs is one tenth.

Say wha? GE is a major major defense contractor. Develops and builds military jet engines and much else. We let the Chinese buy that?

donquixote99 12-09-2017 08:09 PM

OK, turns out Hairer only bought the appliance business, not everything.

The 12,000 come out of one of the units still left in the US company, GE Power.

That is good news, for here in the Derby there is still GE Appliance Park. A very big employer. There has been rumors of layoffs and that was my first thought.

I think this new tax plan will choke the economy as people who have an extra nickel will hoard it. Or maybe invest it in China if that is possible. They will win the battle but lose their war on the working class.
