The Nature report is interesting. Have to sign in to the LAT.

And here i thought it was the polar vortex...sigh...which i dont think has been fully explained by the weather channel.

Though this is rather interesting...makes me think of teh past comments i have made of volcanoes contributing to warming...:)

Hiya Bud. Yeah, we gave you a pass on that one...;)

After we (maybe) became an snowball planet the boffins conjecture that volcanic activity may have broken that particular cycle (if it ever happened).

Now Pete, any geologist worth their salt knows that had there been an ice ball like that we would find moraines in Guatemala.

Boffins? Ahh, a limey's derogatory term for the scientifically inclined, eh? Yes, after the Piltdown hoax everyone knows better than to listen to those chaps at Cambridge and Oxford much less those buggerers' at the Naval College.

piece-itpete 03-04-2014 08:43 AM

It's actually not derogatory, it's a description. We need a word like that.

If I was being derogatory I would borrow a page from Asimov and use 'Scowlers' :D
