I've got yer "Independence Day" right here, pal!

Of all the petulant, argumentative and just plain stupid posts, this one has to win some sort of prize!

What a pathetic thread and a stupid question? Why wouldn't I? It's not my country that I don't like, it's the politics I don't like. Why can't you figure that out? The Republican Party does NOT hold exclusive the right to rule my country, nor are they the only people who would give anything to protect it. Hell, half of the ones I know are nothing but a bunch of excuse making chickenhawks when it comes to military service. Think about it, it's the truth.

Anyways,

Actually, I was just looking through the local listing of celebrations, there are so many in my area. Downtown Norfolk is the closest and largest, of course. But the most interesting, this year seems to be Yorktown with the re-enactments and all. Plus, it's Yorktown........... However, Yorktown is about 45 minutes from here through the insane holiday traffic....so.....

Maybe Virginia Beach. They have a nice little celebration going on at Trashmore Park. Yep, I think that'll be the one. I can go up on the hill and see ALL of the fireworks within a few miles.:)

HAPPY FOURTH, Hatchetjack!!!

It's a little early yet. Lots of stuff to pick from but if it is clear I can see both Berkeley and SF Fireworks from my house. I've done most all the good ones a few times over the years.

No, screw you, Hatchet Jack, and Happy 4th to everyone else!

The thing you don't get about us "lefters" is that, like the majority of Americans, we have the ability to pull up stakes and leave if we don't like the place. We do like... love our country, at least as much as you do. In fact, we love it so much that we want to make it an even better place to live - for you too, Jack. That's why we stay and that's why we try to promote change in ways we believe will make America a better place.

As far as I can tell, the only changes you right wing wankers would like to see is a reduction in your taxes, preferably a reduction to zero, and a reduction in the number of brown skinned non-Christians you have to deal with, preferably a reduction to zero.

Sometimes taking the bait can be very cathartic and therapeutic, Don. I know it was for me.

Actually, if you think about it, the Declaration of Independence was pretty much a leftist conspiracy. People banded together to overthrow authoritarian power.
