And open the door to Trump taking 'emergency action.'

What sort of emergency power can Trump have? Seems sort of vague. Purse strings are still under the control of the congress. From Wiki (FWIW)

Presidential Emergency Powers
Emergency powers. The Constitution does not expressly grant the president additional powers in times of national emergency. However, many scholars think that the Framers implied these powers because the structural design of the Executive Branch enables it to act faster than the Legislative Branch.
Simply wondering what the possibilities are since other than yet another short term CR, there does not seem to be a compromise between the two parties as long as DACA is on the table.

The emergency powers of the President:

1. Constitutional: vague, by implication only.

2. Extra-constitutional: whatever he can get away with. To take a somewhat extreme example, he could declare the Democrats enemies of the people for sabotaging the government, arrest the Democratic members of congress, and then rule by decree with the rump Congress as a rubber stamp.

Outlandish, I grant you. Unthinkable? Nope, one can think it. We are dealing with a leader who disdains "norms," don't forget.

There is a reason why much of Americas deepest, most stubborn poverty lies in the Bible Belt. It has something to do with the way ignorance is worn like a badge of honor and being poor while refusing to ask for help from anyone, is perceived as a virtue. If you're the local rich guy who owns local businesses and wants a reliable supply of cheap, docile labor........it works out great. And your generous donations to the local clergy help to keep it that way. They'll make sure the congregation understands that rich guys who own businesses are blessed and sent by God. And therefore, not to be questioned.
