Orion Set To Launch Thursday

http://www.latimes.com/science/la-na...navtype=outfit

"NASA is preparing for the maiden launch this week of its new Orion spacecraft, which could help jump-start America's return to human exploration of space, including a journey to Mars."

There are a few people that I would like to volunteer for the first Mars mission.:)

I thought "Obama" had killed NASA?

Looks like that's bullshit too.

It's great. I have an issue with reusing the Orion name for it though, it's nothing like the real one :)

How do you like the emergency capsule-saving thingie? 0-450 mph in 2 seconds.

Ugh. That's a lot of acceleration. In fact, a quick visit to an online calculator says 10.23 g. That's edge of consciousness, and that assumes even acceleration over the 2-second period. However, with rockets it's not even, there will be less in the first second and more in the second. I bet there's a peak of 15 g there. The astronauts will likely pass out.

Better than being blown to bits though.
