I needed a tuner for the vintage system. Came across this on Audiogon.
The guy wanted too much ($250), but was willing to negotiate. So, I got her for $180. Then saw one go on ebay for $400!

Anyhow it was supposed to be here before the holiday, but the snow caused delays and it did't get here until this morning.

She's a Luxman T310U, BIG and HEAVY.

So, that makes the vintage system in it's current configuration;
Tuner-Luxman T310U
Turntable/cart-B&O 4002/MMC20E
Preamp-H/K Citation Seventeen
Amp-Denon POA1500
Speakers-ADS L710

It has a very sweet and warm sound, almost tube-like.

I've been in that room most of the day, reading and listening.

Dave

P.s. The line across the dial window is a reflection of the camera tripod, not a scratch.
She is in beautiful condition.

Nice looking tuner, too bad about the scratch!!!

What variety of radio stations do you have around there? You wouldn't pollute that beauty with talk radio, would you?

Oh HELL, no. Talk radio is for perpetually angry rednecks and snake worshipping evangelists.

We have a wide variety of radio stations here in "The Seven Cities*".
Hampton University has an excellent Classic Jazz Series that starts at midnight and runs 'til four a.m.. Then there's the local NPR station WHRO with Classical, then several classic rock stations, rap, country, Latino------whatever. Ya gotta realize that the seven cities combined, is around three million people. And it's a very, very diverse crowd.

(*People have started referring to it as "The Seven Cities", I like that better than "Tidewater" or "Hampton Roads". It's much more cosmopolitan. The rednecks hate it, so it's got to be good.)

That Luxman is a nice machine. I love those ADS speakers, too. Nice set up.

The dearth of FM stations in the Detroit area with quality transmission, regardless of format, is a bummer. 2 - 3 stations max are worth listening to. But I have hope, and the tuners are staying for now.

Sweet looking tuner, it really has the nice warm look too. :)
I have an 80's Luxman int+tuner, nice performers but they look 80's.

+1. I don't think there's anything worth a damn in DC, other than snippets of WPFW (a Pacifica Radio station). It has a jazz and blues format, but the music is interspersed between way too much left-wing, namby-pamby, tree-hugging, save-the-whales politics - not to mention incredibly amateurish production values.

Rob (Merrylander) has one nice Baltimore classical station that he likes. AFAIK, that sums up what is worthwhile on the Baltimore-Washington radio dial.

This may sound entirely insane to you, and I don't really have anything to back it up, it's just a feeling, a hunch if you will. But, I believe that within our lifetimes, Detroit will become Americas renaissance city. Kind of like someone whose learned all of lifes lessons the hard way, taken the blows, hit bottom and becomes determined rise again. When they do, they usually do it in a big way. We can hope, anyways. Can't we?:)

Agreed. Motor City will rise again, there is no way such a grand old city can stay this way for long.

Their motto: Speramus Meliora; Resurget Cineribus”, meaning “We Hope For Better Things; It Shall Rise From the Ashes”. Which I shamelessly copied online.

Their current motto is "R-E-S-P-E-C-T, we want some" :D

That did it, I'm playing some Rare Earth.
