"this 650-horsepower Vette is packed with power and perks, and has the chops to keep up with and even beat McLarens, Lamborghinis and Ferraris, it ranks among the best values in production cars on the market today."

Calling Beamon...:D No word on the sound system options, as yet.

The 1959-1962's are my favorites.

I don't care for any of them after the Stingray came out in 63.

Anybody remember "Route 66"?

Can't believe they still use a pushrod engine in those things.

I thought all cars would have turbines by now.

icenine 04-03-2015 08:50 PM

It sort of looks like a Hyundai.

It has a sort of Veloster look to it.

I see a lot of those on the road.

I bet it comes with a Bose system.

Because of this bullshit inspection at work I had to take all my gear home...so now I have a laptop running into a Bose Wave Radio.

I liked the shapely style of the '69 through the '70s.

That new one is ugly as shit.

I always wanted a tubbed 59 with a Big block topped with an old fuel injection system converted to EFI.

Except for that ugly Jimmy sticking out of that hole in the hood. ;)

I always thought the pre '58 Corvettes were the prettiest.

I really like these 1968 427 rods. Pictures don't do them justice at all.

Had one, a 427/400 coupe in dark metallic green, black leather interior and factory side pipes.

Very cool looking car and pretty fast but, coming from European sports cars, the handling left me pretty unimpressed. I sold it and bought a '70 Lotus Elan S4.

Not mine but just like them.

Looking at that Lotus brought back memories of a buddy I had in the 80's who lived and breathed the Triumph GT6 & owned several.
They were fun little cars.

That's not a '68. The '68 was the same body as the '69 but without the matte silver trim inside the "gills". Your picture is of a '67 (if it has, as I believe, 4 gill openings. If it's only 3, then it's a '65 or '66).

They only had 120HP as I recall but then they only weighed 1,200 pounds (1HP per 10 lbs.). (They were a fiberglass monocoque.) So, they were pretty quick. Their strength was handling, though. Unbelievable!

I guess I need to amend my favorites to 1956-1962.

I like the pre-Stingray ones with that indentation thingy on the sides.

I never cared much for the Stingrays, but I do like the Beach Boys Song.

My dentist friend took me for a ride in his black Nissan GT-R last fall. Pretty impressive for 100K. After the demo I read up a bunch about this thing. Whatever Nissan did with it, they did it almost perfect. They say it's almost impossible to spin the thing out on a road course. It's like stuck to the pavement. Which has caused some of the purists to complain that it's no fun to drive. "Uninvolving" is the term the road snobs who would prefer to spend 600 large, and more, on a supercar they can do battle with in the corners, and still loose to this "unpleasantly noisy" rice burner at the Nurburgring...every time.

Mix Euro & GM and you get a beautiful little car called the Corvair Corsa. I've owned & built several when I thought money was only for building cars. :o

Rear engine air cooled flat 6 cylinder with an available turbo version, way back in the early to mid 60s.

I've been pissed off at Ralph Nader for years over that car!

I've driven one of those once. It felt like someone put sandbags in the trunk. (If it had a trunk, nod wink.)

I had one of these with wire wheels a lifetime ago, fun car.

They have an interesting sitting position & interior layout. I always feel short when I'm in one.
I saw a gorgeous Marlboro red(?) 427 yesterday. First one I've seen rolling down the road in a long time.
All these Vettes sure age well.

Grumpy 04-08-2015 06:12 AM

Not a fan of its looks but it sure has one bad ass motor.

Be careful heading up the 80 my friend. :)

Aside from the first generation, through 62, I have never been much of a Vette fan.

Through '61. They messed them up in '61 when they went to four headlights.

mpholland 04-11-2015 10:41 AM

Four headlights started in 58. Four taillights started in 61 and 62 was the first year for the 360 HP fuel injected 327.

The first year for quad headlights (1958) was the beginning of the end as far as looks go.
