Found on AK in joke thread. Makes a point.

So the joke section of AK is the crack in the wall where one can express their religious and or political thoughts without being shunned?
Or is it just the place where you can try to get away with it, and if the moderators don't like your position you may still get chopped down, like this example where it's ok to blame organized religion as long as you blame them all?
Just wondering...

WG, your post raises a fine point. Public discussion of of moderator practice on AK is banned on AK. Public discussion of moderator practice here is banned here. But public discussion here of moderator practice on AK may be permissible. I'm not sure.

True. And when it becomes obvious that the comedy format is being used to push an ideology or trash a segment of society, the jokes and the comedian suddenly aren't funny.
Don Rickles would ridicule every segment of society, one at a time, including himself. Very funny stuff.
But a comedian with an agenda isn't funny at all. They hate inside, and no amount of funny coming out of their mouth can cover it up.

You got a bit too melodramatic there. When is a point an 'agenda?' Do points always imply 'hate,' as you claim 'agendas' do? If one 'hates' the 'agenda' of another, might that account for the inability to be amused?

I didn't see it as an attack against organized religion or Judaism. I saw it as a sort of cynical expression of a world weary man who has tried his best by praying. It could be any religion but of course the confluence of the the term wall with the holy site in Jerusalem makes the joke work.

Our resident Knight Of The Sorrowful Face does not have an evil bone in his body...
plus I think he lives in Ohio on top of all that lol.

Anyone who finds the joke which started this thread offensive and this is my opinion is looking to be offended. Jokes are a way a healthy society points a spotlight on it's ills. There will always be jokes that are beyond crude but I'd much rather have them than PC crush the life out of people with having to worry that someone's out there with their heart on their sleeve waiting to jump. There's enough stuff to be really worried about with our new leadership that this thread should be used as intended to showcase frustration with a certain situation without prejudice to the chosen vehicle of delivery.

Prayer feels good, like you have really done something to fix whatever ails you. But, in the end it's you that makes the most difference I your life. If all you're doing is praying to a wall............
