It is difficult to spend leisure time with guys when you know that about 50% of them are reactionary. Just now I become so aware of that.

The message of this (generally so very kind man) was full to bursting point with hatred towards Hillary Clinton.

I am a German, not a very patriotic, but pretty proud German. I suffered from all the manure Adolf Trump poured over Germany, the German chancellor and her policy.

I know what you mean about the emotional effect. I have been depressed and very prone to anger. It is slowly easing.

That's the thing about emotions. They are a flowing river we are in. You can direct your course to a certain extent, but flailing to go the opposite way can just wear you out until you drown. When you hit the rapids, just work on getting through them undamaged. There will be better water in a little while.

The fact that people are often crazy wrong about certain things, like Hillary and Trump, is just the way people are. Why they are this way is just a body of facts to be understood and taken into account. Rationality, more rationality, always rationality.
