The name "Robert Lee" triggers lefty fears of micro-aggression?

I thought this was a joke, but apparently its true. An ESPN announcer has been removed from ESPN's TV coverage Virginia/William and Mary football game.

https://www.si.com/extra-mustard/201...harlottesville

ESPN's statement:

“We collectively made the decision with Robert to switch games as the tragic events in Charlottesville were unfolding, simply because of the coincidence of his name. In that moment it felt right to all parties. It’s a shame that this is even a topic of conversation and we regret that who calls play by play for a football game has become an issue.”

Somewhat more amazing is that ESPN employee Lee is an Asian American that would not trace his family history and origins to anywhere near Charlottesville, Virginia, the Confederacy, the South, etc.

But highlighting ESPN's comments: "...we regret that who calls play by play for a football game has become an issue." My question is: Who made the guy's name and whether he calls that particular football game an "issue"? I sincerely doubt it was anyone on the right. And this issue, I guess, is that this guy being attached to the telecast of this football game is something the lefty's at ESPN fear might trigger a micro-aggression or something? Who the hell thinks like this??

Like I said earlier (and was roundly criticized for, by the way): where does this stop? Once we open the Pandora's Box and surrender to mob rule on this topic, where does it end?

So, Trump does a complete meltdown yet again in a tirade last night, an this is your response? You're pathetic.

A politically correct decision in my opinion.

An unfortunate coincidence of a symbolic name with a polarizing cachet.

Textbook, albeit transparent, attempt to change the subject when you'd rather not talk about the OP.

The ultimate coincidence of obscene over-sensitivity with lack of rational thought.

For Trumpheads anything that creates a confrontation is good, damn the results.
ESPN is not BLIGHTFART.
ESPN = 'Entertainment and Sports Programming Networks' and as such needs to appeal to all audiences.

Pio1980 08-23-2017 11:57 AM

Thought it was Blightfart.

donquixote99 08-23-2017 12:01 PM

Would you believe 'Lightfart?'

It's now Blightshart since that gin soaked freak, Steve Bannon is back at the helm with his "weapons" in hand.
