no, I know of many people who took pay cuts last year but retained employment.

I do wonder which of them took cuts strictly to pad the profits and which took cuts to keep business operating that really would have folded.

I'm working, but haven't been paid for a couple of months, if that counts.

Couple of people on the other group have found work.

One of my lifelong best friends was laid off from a consulting firm in Atlanta was laid off in December, 2008. He was brought back on in June of this year. His business line is international air cargo operations/logistics.

Yeah. My nieces husband had been unemployed for nearly a year, but recently found work at an aluminum extrusion plant in Ohio....as a temp. So, he's working again, but $8 an hour is tough when you have two kids at home and one in college. He says the boss likes him and told him when 90 days is up to go ahead and put in for full time employee, which will almost double his pay. My buddy Rick is working all sorts of overtime at Severstal Steel after a sixteen month layoff, and he can use the money, now that he's paying for a divorce, child support and has his alcoholic mother living with him.
