Are you assuming he will be tried?

No, an attempt at a little gallows humor, perhaps misplaced.

Obviously, the mother was tragically lax in her responsibilities regarding carrying a concealed weapon. There are so many similar instances of gun owners failing to control access to firearms and allowing them to fall into the hands of toddlers, often with tragic results.

Despite this, the NRA and 2nd Amendment apologists all insist that there is no need for the proper training of gun owners, even those allowed to carry concealed weapons.

Casual attitude about a very deadly weapon. Now the child has to go through life with this.
The last time I touched a weapon was when I handed it in after getting off of the plane coming back from Iraq. Have not missed it since then. She must have had a round chambered and the safety off...

Oh yeah the morons at the NRA are so against the smart gun too.

I wonder if she even knew!
Sad as it seems, I find it hard to feel sorry for the mother. The son may be scarred for life.

spokesperson called the incident “very sad,”

it's intensely insane... and it's called an accident???

well it's not an accident, it's stupidity

typical responsible gun ôwner

Even if it was only a .22 cal unless it was one of those half plastic models how could a two year old even pick it up? And as has been noted she must have had a round chambered as I can't picture a two year old operating the slide. Even our 6mm pellet pistols have safeties.

Guns don't kill people. Two-year-olds with guns kill people.
