The Holy Republican Empire?
 

Way back in 2001, when GW moved into the Whitehouse and we had a Republican controlled Congress, I tuned into EIB AM790 here in the Swamp, and listened to Hannity going on ad-nauseum that it was going to be so great that very few people would ever vote Democratic again. "We are on the verge. We are within a few years of single-party rule." Of course, we all know how that worked out.

My question is this;

Do any of you guys think that "single party rule" from any political party would be a good thing?

I tend to think the temptation to run to the extremes would be too great. And that history bears out that this is usually just what happens. In the absence of any effective opposition, political parties push their agenda to insane lengths. War and terrible human rights violations are the end result.

Just something I've been pondering lately.

There needs to be balance. Not like there is now...

We have a local cartoonist who always portrayed her with the Darth Vader mask. WaPo used to publish his strip but they dropped him.
