Trump Pulls Out of The Paris Accord

Too bad his dad didn't pull out before inflicting this bozo on the world.

Chicks 06-01-2017 08:15 PM

He's very much on the wrong side of history, and will go down as the worst president ever. Obama is already listed (by real historians) as 12th greatest, so his place in history is secure.

All of Trump's nonsense will be undone, eventually. I do hope he winds up serving time once he's booted out of office. Hard time...

A prime example of playing to the base and ignorant. The earliest the US of A is totally out is in November 4th of 2020. We are locked in for three and a half years already!

he's pandering to the the coal industry. I heard that currently there are about 69k employed by the coal industry. as opposed to over 200k employed in the wind and solar sector. he'a fool, but how much more do we need to take before he is gone?

68 mayors, representing 36 million Americans, tell Trump to stuff it; they will abide by the Paris accord.

Trump: I was elected to represent Pittsburgh, not Paris.
Pittsburgh: Uh, we’re with Paris.

Pittsburg voted 80% for Hillary. Trump is just plain stupid.

Ah, don't worry. Republican Representative says climate change is real, but God will keep us from disaster.

What do they replace their brains with? Sigh.

Nature will respond in the next months and years to the Orange-Utang and will kill hundreds and perhaps even thousands of Americans by extreme heat waves, floodings, Hurricans etc.

Which ignorant americans will blame on the wrath of God because "gays" "women" "Mexicans" "Muslims" "blacks" and "liberals"

As I said somewhere else before - the Trump followers are similar to the Barking Monster followers - a relationship expressed in "bedingungsloser Treue" (unconditional loyality).

donquixote99 06-02-2017 08:01 AM

Yes--perfect term for it.

Even has 'loser' in it.

Chicks 06-02-2017 08:18 AM

Prepare for a huge backlash against coal companies. Environmentalists will take a stand, and Trump has just painted a target. Investors will be encouraged to divest their coal stocks, coal companies will be sued. Trump will lose. Bigly.

These titans of industry just broke with Trump’s decision to exit the Paris accords

"Thirty states and scores of companies said Thursday that they would press ahead with their climate policies and pursue lower greenhouse gas emissions, breaking sharply with President Trump’s decision to exit the historic Paris climate accord.
In a pointed rebuttal to Trump’s announcement in the rose garden of the White House, New York’s governor Andrew M. Cuomo unveiled a plan to invest $1.65 billion in renewable energy and energy efficiency on Thursday, the largest ever procurement of renewable energy by an American state.
Meanwhile, more than two dozen big companies — including Apple, Morgan Stanley, and Royal Dutch Shell — urged Trump not to exit the Paris agreement on Thursday.
President Trump framed his renunciation of the Paris climate accord as an historic moment in defense of American workers and the economy. But the actions of state capitols and corporate board rooms offer a counterpoint to the rationale behind Trump’s move.
Across the nation and the economy, renewable energy technologies have taken root and have gathered momentum of their own while creating thousands of new jobs, state and corporate officials said. And the pressure on executives of companies to address the issue have grown greater as major financial firms for the first time press the issue." Wash Post

Isn't that the way it's supposed to work?

Individuals and individual companies making their own decisions?

donquixote99 06-02-2017 10:43 AM

Still, government should point the right way, not the wrong as desired by dinosaur industries.

Coal emissions are a major cause of global warming, not to mention causing respiratory problems for children and adults, costing taxpayers billions in healthcare. Government's role is to protect the citizenry through regulation. When businesses are demonstrably doing harm to citizens, government needs to step in.

Coal is a filthy, outdated form of energy. Natural gas is far cleaner, cheaper, and in abundant supply. Renewable energy has become competitive, thanks to scientific research and insightful businesses. Coal needs to be shut down for good, but political corruption keeps it viable.

Individuals and individual companies make their own decisions within the parameters of the law.

Carrying libertarianism to it's logical conclusion would mean no interstate highway system, no railroad linking the east to the west coasts.

Hell, Skyline Drive wouldn't have been built, leaving Pidgeon Forge and DollyLand without all that sweet damn Yankee cash y'all love so much. ;)

We gave Japan the future in giving them the transistor, now we give China renewable energy. Pure business savvy.

France has invited all the green energy brains to move to France. :)

It's a lose/lose for the good old USA all the way around.

But we kept the IC and Trump's political grandstanding isn't going to change the warming path we're treading.

No, it isn't.

The national government also is supposed to act in the best interests of the people, balancing national interests, global initiatives, and international mandates that help protect the environment. The EPA backs this, scientists do as well.

Yes, the people, not some idiot billionaire's interests, not MegaCorp's interest, but the people's interest, first and foremost.

As far as the agreement encourages the intelligent responsible generation and most efficient use of energy makes it worthwhile.

You're serious? Richard Branson, whose jets dump tons of carbon into the air daily with his airlines and trains? He's also heavily invested in the renewable power industry and its reliance on gov't funding. So no wonder he and some of his CEO buddies like Elon Musk are pissed. They're afraid that they might lose access to billions in gov't funding and their stock portfolios would take a dump as a result.
