Sig Quote Limits

Must they be as draconian as they are now? Even 125 characters would be a welcome liberalization, but heck, why not go crazy and allow 200 characters, and 3 lines?

I experimented with a change in the number of characters. It doesn't appear that I can change the number of lines. Try a new sig.

D-Ray

Oddly enough, it still squawks about being over 100 characters, but the complaint about having more than two lines has gone away....

The one I'm trying to post is 132 characters, including spaces, with one line break.

icenine 08-10-2015 09:59 AM

For your convenience DQ I will try to limit my pearls of wisdom to below 132 characters so as to make it easier for you to quote me.

donquixote99 08-10-2015 11:02 AM

Under current conditions, you need to be under 100 characters. Considerably under, if you want credit as well....

Anyway, I'm sticking with my request for 200. That way I can quote a whole entire tweet, and say who made it and when.

This archaic social media we're on here needs a few tweeks, at least, to mesh well in the current cyber environment....

Unfortunately, when it comes to software changes, I have satisfied the Peter Principle.

Maybe you should delegate. After all, the new kid needs to establish his worth.

icenine 08-10-2015 12:16 PM

I am quite impressed with the software Steve Hoffman uses.
Although some of our misgu, um er conservative friends may not get too many likes here lol.

You could perhaps ask whoever changed it to revise it again? The limits used to be much higher.

I would imagine he's gotta be worth close to what he's getting paid. Maybe not quite, but close.

donquixote99 08-11-2015 09:05 AM

The new quote required some shoehorning to get it to exactly 100 characters.

I miss the good old days, with wide limits on the length of quotes. Was this a measure to fight malicious code? Can't you disable HTML in them, instead?

Time to lock this thread.

donquixote99 08-13-2015 10:48 PM

What an odd opinion.

Nobody wants hear you cry about the lack of space for long-winded sigs.
Time to move on.

Time to move on.

1. How do you know what everybody else wants?

2. The thread was quiet until you bumped it. So really, it's you keeping the cause of 'quotes as large as tweets' alive! Thank-you!

You just answered your own question without knowing it...IMO of course.

donquixote99 08-15-2015 03:27 PM

What makes you so sure I didn't know it, for what it's worth, which is about nothing...IMO, of course.

The actual point, of course, is that you had nothing to complain about, and you just posted here to vent a little hostility

Nobody cares about your thread. You have a red a$$ because you know that to be fact & not opinion.
You answered your own question.

donquixote99 08-15-2015 04:50 PM

Ah, you're just sayin' that to be a shit.

Make an appointment with Bana & get the help you need.

donquixote99 08-15-2015 07:11 PM

Ha! I'm way beyond Ike's help.

Is the heat getting to you?

donquixote99 09-21-2015 02:34 PM

Waiting with happy anticipation..... :)

Grumpy 09-21-2015 03:15 PM

Oops. Changes seem not to have taken. It's still telling me '100 characters, 2 lines.' :(

Grumpy 09-23-2015 07:10 PM

It should work now.

Rajoo 09-23-2015 07:21 PM

Thank you for your generosity Sir. :)

Yep, worked for me. Thanks.

donquixote99 09-28-2015 02:45 PM

Got around to checking it out. 200 characters! Hooray!

Still limited to 2 lines though....

Grumpy 10-02-2015 02:08 PM

I think 2 lines should be good fer now. Otherwise some folks will have full on paragraphs for sigs.
