Disposable Dinnerware

How much squeaking styrofoam does it take to piss off a society?

I am done.

The other day I ATE IN A RESTAURANT.

My food arrived in three styrofoam containers, plus one plastic bag for silverware, plus one plastic bag to hold the other plastic bags.

When I complained to my dinner partner the reply was, "Well, they are all recyclable."

THE RESTAURANT ONLY HAD A GARBAGE CAN.

The containers could have been made of gold. The process still would have put them in the trash.

I can't tolerate this structural ridiculousness.

Styrofoam isn't recyclable. It's probably cheaper for the restaurant to buy the throw-aways than to hire a dish washer.

I had disposables served when the dishwasher was nonfunctional.

Any reason for drawing attention to "I ate in a restaurant"?

Sad but probably the truth.

Styrofoam is very toxic why it ever used for food handling is never understood by me.

There is no definite conclusion as to the ill effects on people who consume from
styrofoam containers. The word "possibility" is on going.

It's not recommend to microwave in Styrofoam afaik. Polypropylene is still OK, afaik.

Yes.

A restaurant is a place where people slow down and talk to each other. All of the senses become aware.

Smell
Sight
Sound
Touch
Taste

Ironically as I wrote that list the one sense that I could not recall was taste. Yet that was the only sense that the restaurant focused on.

Their food tasted good. Seriously good.

But the other senses lacked.

Smell was dry, like a dusty parking lot.
Sight was dry, like a dusty parking lot.
Sound was loud, like cars rushing by.
Touch was crinkly, like plastic.

There is a touchy-feely aspect to leadership that America can improve on. We should not be eating great BBQ and then feeling guilty, or dirty, or dry.

Make sense?
