I know we all want to blame Hillary and the DNC for 2016...
...however, perhaps before we get too hysterical about the self-destruction of the Democratic Party we might consider....
The Strange Impotence of the Republican Party |
The leadership can't punish Congress people by withholding earmarks for districts so you have representatives that only have to fear their rabid, right-wing talk radio listening base.
If you can convince the voters in your state to keep re-electing you in gerrymandered districts by throwing red-meat out and other theatrics who cares if you don't actually vote on anything in Congress. It is not like the Speaker can punish anyone by withholding money from your district like in the old days. Beware of "progressive" efforts to reform Washington. http://www.latimes.com/nation/la-oe-...209-story.html If Obamacare is eventually repealed you can thank one "Progressive" in the Democratic Party. Oh wait Sanders is not a Democrat. I mean does anyone care how much Hillary was paid for speeches at this point in the Trump Administration? |
"There’s a simple explanation for this: They can’t."
Using healthcare as an example; They promise to reform healthcare by repealing Obamacare and replacing it with something "better". They can't. Why? Because, as Bill Maher once put it; "How do you govern more effectively, when your whole thing is to not govern at all?". Deregulate healthcare and you return to the conditions that started the debate in the first place. Americans will not like that. Using trade as an example; Trump has promised to return manufacturing to America. As much as I would like to see that happen.... Think of the reasons why it left in the first place. Americans will not like the pollution that deregulated heavy industry brings, the inflation that the cost of producing domestically would bring, the labor conditions that deregulating labor would bring................ In short, they make these promises knowing fully well, "They can't.". |

When your team is not strong enough to win the game, you can cheat or change the rules. Guess what the GOP is trying to do? Both. |

A labor-intensive project in an industry that is now largely non-union with real wages that have fallen since the 70's. I also wonder if some 'card-stacking' took place with the bill of materials....

I had a blender that I used close to a daily bases for over 20 years. It lasted over 25 years. I have had three since then. It is very sad. More natural resources for shitty products just to make money. Germany is the go to quality these days. |
