Clock Kid

Anybody been following this?

I have a little, and you know what?

I agree with what Bill Maher said about it.

The damned thing does look like a bomb to me.

I'll even go one further. I think this kid was doing a little trolling.

He knew that thing looked like a bomb and he was looking to cause a stir.

And I can't believe Obama let himself get played by this little smart ass and invited him to the White House.

I thought he was smarter than that.

When Ahmed Mohamed went to his high school in Irving, Texas, Monday, he was so excited. A teenager with dreams of becoming an engineer, he wanted to show his teacher the digital clock he'd made from a pencil case.

The 14-year-old's day ended not with praise, but punishment, after the school called police and he was arrested.

"I built a clock to impress my teacher but when I showed it to her, she thought it was a threat to her," Ahmed told reporters Wednesday. "It was really sad that she took the wrong impression of it."

I agree.

But I still think this kid is a little wise guy that was looking for trouble.

He reminds me of those two Middle eastern dudes that got on a plane right after 9/11 and started joking about hijacking it just to scare the other passengers. Then got all indignant when they got thrown off.

Texas needs some trolling. ;)

Ahmed is going to MIT where he belongs. :)

BlueStreak 09-20-2015 12:46 PM

Oh, let it go. Even if he did it as a prank, he's just a kid. WTF, man? What are you going to do, ruin the kids life over that? Jesus, get a grip.

Sure, MIT is going to give him a full ride because he took the cover off a Walmart clock.

14 year old males, regardless of race, creed, or national origin, are assholes by nature - just how it is.

Remember when you were 14? I was PIA on a stick.

I'm still grateful my Dad didn't just lock me in the garage until I wised up . . .

I was going to write a long post about how this whole thing was bullshit and how it was really a case of a racist teacher and a racist police force trying to humiliate and harrass a Muslim kid with a brain. The Daily Kos saved me the trouble.

Quote:

I said: it's sad they thought that kid had a bomb.
She said: they didn't think he had a bomb.
I said: yes, they thought he made a bomb and even called the police.
She said: They just wanted to humiliate a little Muslim boy. They didn't think he had a bomb.
I said: Don't be a conspiracy theorist. They might be a little prejudiced, but I'm sure they thought he had a bomb.
She said: OK.
But they didn't evacuate the school, like you do when there's a bomb.
They didn't call a bomb squad - like you do when there's a bomb.
They didn't get as far away from him as possible, like you do when there's a bomb.
Then they put him and the clock in an office: not like you do when there's a bomb
Then they waited with him for the police to arrive, and then they put the clock in the same car as the police.
Then they took pictures of it.

I said: Damn.....They never thought he had a bomb.
