There is solutions to the affordable housing. Getting the funding from tax payers is where the problem arises. Those that can afford to pay the taxes will fight this. Those who can't will say where is mine..

Working poor is only one part of the multifaceted issues effecting the people without a home. If raising the income for some only to then cause a corresponding increase in housing. What benefit?

Subsidized housing has it's own problems. There are the problems with vast complexes having a crime element move in.

The better solution may well be instead of funding a home to live in. Funding jobs that make it possible to afford a home. Fixing up vacant buildings for future residents could be a start. Even farm work or meat packing jobs for a home... There are jobs hard to fill now. By adding intensives of a chance to own a home of your own may become easier to fill.

Still will have the homeless and dorm setting with supervision in renovated vacant buildings could be a solution.
