Try as you might to claim otherwise, but health care in the US has not been a free market for a hundred years, back when you traded chickens to a doctor for his snake oil or leeches. Here's an article by a conservative of why and how free market economics do not and cannot work for health care.

And he has just touched the surface as to why health care cannot be delivered under a true free market model - the underlying prerequisites for free market conditions in modern health care simply do not and cannot exist in this country nor any other modern first world economy.
