Let me clue you into something, oh clueless one. Politics is largely about perception and drawing contrasts with your opponent. Trump has branded the GOP as the racist party and the Dems have branded themselves as the anti-racist party. Accordingly, the GOP protects their racists (e.g., Steve King, Corey Stewart ...) and the Democrats boot racists (and by doing so drawing a clear contrast to Trump's racist GOP). Pretty simple, really.
