But, my answer is - I believe that one's sexual preference is hard-wired. The differences are just that - differences, not defects.

Attitudes are not hard-wired. More people of my generation are likely to be favorably disposed to accepting gay marriage than Rob's generation, and more of my sons' generation is likely to be in favor of gay marriage than my generation. But, many more people of my generation favor gay marriage now than ten years ago.

Whether one is openly gay is a choice, and more and more are choosing openness.
