A comment on the religious liberty guarantee of the 1st Amendment, the FFs probably had a seemingly reasonable expectation of what the public would deem a proper religion, and left a scope wide enuff for any egotistical charlatain to mislead and fleece their foolish gullible flocks in its guise, with the blessing of the U.S. Constitution and little legal recourse.
