Reading between the lines, I think Gates was a hothead who let his ass overload his mouth-and paid the price. Should it have happened ?-In a perfect world, no-but this world ain't perfect. I know, but I'm a bit of a hothead sometimes myself-and situations w/cops can go to "Defcon 4" before you know it.
