Here is some background for the "stupidest thing you ever read."

This reminds me of an exchange from "A Fish Called Wanda."

Wanda: ...but you think you're an intellectual, don't you, ape?
Otto (smugly): Apes don't read philosophy.
Wanda: Yes they do, Otto. They just don't understand it.

I feel like maybe I'm the ape because I'm engaging with someone who gets their info from madnesshub.

Lies, damn lies, and statistics. Your comment was stupid because, as I noted to Nailer, it is a false analogy. It goes just skin deep, as if the risk stops with the individual and death is the sole possible negative outcome. Also, you clearly posted it as a way of saying all this is being overblown. Statistics are useful only if you understand them.

1. You drown or you don't drown. Nearly drowning doesn't kill you and probably makes you safer in the future because you'll be more careful.

With Covid 19, you can live and yet suffer severe medium and long term health impacts even including organ damage, blood clots and blood vessel damage. These can affect you regardless of age. And we're learning more all the time.

2. Being in a swimming pool doesn't increase the risk to others. And you don't carry the swimming pool drowning risk around with you. But exposure to Covid, especially if you become an asymptomatic carrier, vastly increases the risk to everyone else you come into contact with. That's why many nursing homes don't allow visitors.

3. I challenge you on this alleged CDC statistic. Show me a link. Both the CDC and NIH have lots of info on excess deaths attributable to Covid-19, and those in are in the hundreds of thousands. Here is a quote from the third link below: "As of October 15, 216,025 deaths FROM [caps added] COVID-19 have been reported in the United States; however, this might underestimate the total impact of the pandemic on mortality."

4. Finally, your powers of observation have failed miserably wrt to "the most frightened and obedient mask wearers out there seem to be people under the age of 30".
