"A Miami man who was caught by police eating the face of a homeless man in Florida was eventually shot dead by police after he refused to stop his cannibal like behavior.

"When the officer approached him, told him to stop, pointed a gun at him, he turned around and growled like a wild animal and kept eating at the man's face," a police union leader told Miami's WPLG-TV.
The cop shot the man dead, but it took more than one shot and he caused horrific damage to Poppo's face.

Even police were shocked at the crime scene.
Sgt. Javier Ortiz, vice president of the Miami Fraternal Order of Police, said it was one of the bloodiest "and goriest scenes I've ever been to."
"It was not only grotesque, it was just very sad, the amount of blood. It was very sad to see what happened to this gentleman that had his face eaten," Ortiz said.
Poppo remains in critical condition.
