In the founders time it was believed that slavery was going to die out naturally, as indeed it was.

Actually in the British Empire it died out through law (either 1808 or 1820 cannot remember) because they knew it was wrong and did something about it.
It died in America only through a horrific war in which 2/3s of a million people perished.
Now what part of natural is any of that?
