They've turned into a crazed mob.
The first time I really noticed it was back when I voted Republican and the Terri Schiavo law passed. Seeing those guys lined up for a photo op like they did something good just made me sick. The party of small government turned into the party of giant micromanagement. They completely abandoned their purported principle of governance -- letting states and their citizens deal with situations themselves.
