Discovered that the excellent 1986 BBC series
The Singing Detective is on YouTube. I remember it fondly from when it originally aired on my local PBS station. A true masterpiece, starring Michael Gambon. Well worth searching for.
The movie version (Robert Downey Jr) is a pale imitation, not worth the time.
