From everything I've read and heard the shooter bought a gun and ammo legally. Up to this incident there would of not been a reason to prevent the sale. I have not found out the type of pistol or if extended magazines were used either. But agree there is no legit reason to own a extended mag or assault rifles. But neither seem to have been used in this case.
So short of all guns being removed from society this is going to happen. Sorry state of it but in a free society it is all to prevalent a danger. Especially in this modern polarizing feeding frenzy that we seem to be in. I mean what do think is going to happen when it always one group up against another? Without a middle ground or a give and take accepted, but my way or the highway seeming to be rapidly becoming the norm.

It's creeping and it's creeping and it's creeping...
Checkpoint laws are a good example. In order to not be unlawful they first had to clearly publish when and where. They were in my local paper up till recently.
Then, suddenly, it changed to 'there will be a checkpoint'. Now, it doesn't mention them at all.
People are idiots. "...like gravity, ever acting with noiseless foot and unalarming advance, gaining ground step by step and holding what it gains..."
The very nature of government.
Barney, as society becomes cruder and cruder, can violence be far behind?

1. What "anti-gun lobby?"
2. Anyone shooting up temples or theaters in CA?
That said, I seem to recall some trouble in North Hollywood about fifteen years ago involving illegal drum magazines and legal (at the time) weapons illegally converted to fully-automatic.
Has that happened, since? No?
CA laws seem to be working.

Easy to assert, impossible to prove (a negative).

Just trying to understand here.

And, respectfully, I await a clear and direct response to the above question. And I would add to it: Does such a dialog present such a threat that it can't even be considered?
Good Christ almighty 18 innocent people (and potentially even more) have been senselessly slaughtered in two separate incidents less than 3 weeks apart using firearms that were legally purchased and we can't even fucking talk about doing something about it?? Give me a fucking break!

Quite simply, it's fear.

After re-reading my post, Zeke, I reduced the number to 18 (I don't consider the Sikh temple shooter 'innocent').

Right, but let's not do anything that might possibly prevent reoccurance. No it is not fun, it is about as useful as shouting up a dead horses arse. We might just as well be talking to a bunch of fucking fence posts.

Pete, I can be intense when issues involving needless loss of human life are involved. My frustration is largely a consequence of what I consider to be intransigence regarding any willingness on the part of firearms rights advocate to even discuss the matter.
And, sir, you nailed it - I was boiling when I typed that post.
