If you look closely you can see the Great Seal of the State of Maryland on that bill so I don't think it's strictly speaking a "colonial" bill but a state currency note. As I recall, the states issued their own currency during the period of the Articles of Confederation.

OOPS! That's what I get for going off half cocked. That's the Maryland Seal alright but it's dated 1774 so colonial it is!

I thought that the dollar was an invention of the Continental Congress once the revolution had started. Learnt sumpthin' new today, thanks Pete. I'll give you a whole dollar for it!

Me too. That's partly why I assumed it was post-colonial.

I got 2% beginning of the year, and now with $1 CDN = $1.02US we are doing just fine.
