Senility, it happens to all of us eventually.

I remember when my mother started doing that. Creepy stuff.

I have always had respect for him for standing up to the birthers...but his comments at the GOP convention this week concerning Obama's foreign policy was mean spirited. I really believe he was surprised Obama got Bin Laden...I think in his heart he was convinced only he would have been able to have gotten him...he is very bitter.

The young McCain was called McNasty by those who knew him because he was a furst class dick-head. The mature McCain learned to wear a sweeter face but the senile McCain has forgotten how.

I don't mind an asshole A-1/A-4 attack pilot. Hell, it might even be a prerequisite.

Politicians can only do that in private.

From all reports he was pretty good at crashing them.

I'll leave the mans military record alone. One thing no one can dispute, he survived a long stretch in a Vietnamese POW camp. That's more than good enough for me.

Politically, I liked him in 2000. In 2008....not so much.

He did have some really tough breaks...he was on the Forrestal when they had that terrible fire on the flight deck. And then later on he was shot down in Vietnam. I would still fill more comfortable with him at the helm than Mitt. He might talk tough, but McCain does not have to prove anything to anyone. Now Mitt and Paul may have some chickenhawk blood in them....may want to compensate for not serving in the military.

I know what you mean and there is nothing worse.

I don't know enough about that to say anything.

What I do know is that he was willing to fly A-4's over dangerous territory. Even if you're a crappy pilot (who knows?), you're certainly a brave one.

Perhaps that's what I liked in 2000. Twelve years ago, this guy was a brave politician even if he wasn't particularly good at it.
